Santorum heading to Georgia for primary rallies

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - Republican Rick Santorum will campaign in Georgia ahead of the state's Super Tuesday presidential primary next week.

The social conservative will appear at a 9 a.m. town hall session at Dalton's City Hall. Santorum will then travel to Atlanta for an 11 a.m. rally.

Santorum won caucuses in Minnesota and Colorado and a nonbinding primary in Missouri. On Tuesday, he finished second behind Romney in Michigan's primary.

The wife of Santorum rival Mitt Romney will also be campaigning in Georgia on Thursday, while Republican candidate Newt Gingrich has been touring his old home state this week in the hope of a primary win to revive his campaign. Gingrich plans to address the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, then attend the opening of the Cherokee County Republican Party office.
