City council to seek public meeting with housing development officials

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Tuesday's city council meeting tackled the very hot topic of revitalization efforts in area communities within Chattanooga.

City Council members will ask for a public meeting with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (H.U.D.) and housing authority officials, concerning future plans for the Westside and other public housing properties in Chattanooga.

Much like last week, Westside residents showed up for Tuesday night's council meeting, and again asked to have a voice in deciding a course for their development, which includes College Hill Courts.

At the urging of Chairwoman Pam Ladd, they'll ask to meet with Housing and Urban Development officials to try to get a handle on all the facts, though the council has no power in the decision.
