TRION, CHATTOOGA COUNTY (WRCB) -- An assault at a state prison in northwest Georgia sends two corrections officers to the hospital.

Georgia Department of Corrections spokeswoman Gwendolyn Hogan tells Channel 3, the incident occurred Tuesday at Hayes State Prison, shortly before 5:30 p.m.

Hogan says an inmate assaulted two officers, but was unable to release details of the incident.

She says both officers were taken to a hospital for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
