SPARTANBURG, S.C. (SoCon) – University of Tennessee at Chattanooga forward Taylor Hall has been named the Southern Conference's Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played February 22-27.
Hall helped the Lady Mocs to a 2-1 finish to the regular season last week, including wins over regular season co-champs Davidson and Appalachian State.
Hall scored a career-high 24 points against the Mountaineers on Monday night and connected on eight three-pointers in Chattanooga's final two games. She tied her career-high for shots behind the arc with three against Davidson, before connecting on five against the Mountaineers.
The New Tazewell, Tenn., native recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds against Davidson, shooting 40 percent from the field and 52.9 percent from long range.
The sophomore standout also shot 11-of-14 from the charity stripe, including a 7-of-8 showing against Appalachian State.
The award is Hall's first weekly conference honor in her career, and just the second for a UTC player this season. Senior forward Whitney Hood was the player of the week in mid-January.
Chattanooga earned the No.3 seed for the Southern Conference Tournament, which begins Friday, March 2 in Asheville, N.C. The Lady Mocs have a first-round bye and will play Saturday night against the winner of the Furman and UNCG contest.
