Severe thunderstorms possible Wednesday

Posted: Updated:

(WRCB) - The La Niña winter (warm and wet) will continue into the first of March.

Tuesday afternoon, highs reach the mid-60s, and we will have some scattered showers lifting up from the South.

We can expect on and off showers through tonight into Wednesday.  Some strong storms will move in Wednesday night, bringing heavy rain, potentially damaging winds, and small hail.

The threat of tornadoes is very small, but it is always a concern when storms like this move through.

Right now, it looks like the timing of the line of storms will bring them into the Tennessee Valley by 8:00 or 9:00 p.m.

They will be moving out of the area by about 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning, an then we will have dry warm air settling in for Thursday with a high of 74.

The high Friday will  climb to 77, and another system will bring another round of strong storms Friday.

The record highs are around 80, so while we will be way above the normal high of 58, the records should stay safe.
