Polk County man arrested for attempted murder

Posted: Updated:

COPPERHILL, POLK COUNTY, TN (WRCB) – An argument early Sunday morning in Copperhill leaves a man charged with attempted murder.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened around 1:00 a.m. at a home on Crème Street.

The incident report states an argument between Shane Stuart and Darian Self turned physical when Wally Dean, who lives at the residence, asked them to take it outside.

Dean told police that Self turned his back to Stuart, who had pulled a gun, and told him he would have to shoot him in the back.

Police say Stuart then shot Self in the lower back.

A neighbor told police, the alleged gunman had visited his home earlier, saying that he didn't like Self and was going to take care of him that night.

The victim was taken to Copper Basin Medical Center, where he was flown to Erlanger.

Stuart is behind bars, charged with attempted murder.
