Varner and Evans Win February CBA on Chickamauga Lake

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The team of Mike Varner and Trey Evans from Soddy Daisy, Tenn., caught a five-bass limit weighing 26.67 pounds to win first place and $2,000 in the Nichols Marine CBA Open tournament.

Jim Kimsey and Brian Gladson took over-all big-fish honors with a giant largemouth bass weighing 8.82 pounds and earned them $480.

Chris Gallman and Verlin Beardon won the biggest spot award with a spotted bass weighing 3.89 pounds and earned them $160.

Greg Lamb and Mark Heatherly won the biggest smallmouth award with a smallmouth bass weighing 4.85 pounds and earned them $160.

The highest finishing New Team Award went to the team of Brian Wilson and Tom Brindle earning them a free entry into next month's event.

The team of Rocky and Harley Sutherland were they highest finishing Youth Division Team and also earned a free entry into next month's tournament.

Rounding out the remaining top 16 places:

  • 2nd: Taylor Bolton and Cody Frazier 25.76 lbs., $900
  • 3rd: Shaun Lusk and Andy Lusk 25.71 lbs., $800
  • 4th: Jim Kimsey and Brian Gladson 25.55 lbs., $700
  • 5th: Steve Barnes and Spencer Smith 25.09 lbs., $600
  • 6th: Greg Lamb and Mark Heatherly 24.76 lbs., $500
  • 7th: Rogne Brown and Allen Brown 23.94 lbs., $450
  • 8th: Robbie McGill and Wade Kilgore 23.63 lbs., $400
  • 9th: Chris Grant and Ben Parker 23.02 lbs., $350
  • 10th: James Milling and Buddy Gross 22.40 lbs., $300
  • 11th: Josh Wofford and Bruce Wofford 21.86 lbs., $250
  • 12th: Chris Gallman and Verlin Beardon 21.03 lbs., $250
  • 13th: Tont Townsend and Galen James 20.47 lbs., $200
  • 14th: Wes Hardin and Jason Cook 20.05 lbs., $200
  • 15th: Brent Tharpe and Brandon Roop 19.96 lbs., $150
