Bill would let Georgia distilleries give free samples

ATLANTA (AP) - The Georgia House has passed a bill that would allow distilleries in the state to pour samples of their libations for visitors.

House Bill 514 would empower the state to issue permits to distilleries for free tastings. The measure would limit samples to half an ounce per visitor daily.

State Rep. Culver "Rusty" Kidd, the bill's sponsor, held up a bottle of clear liquid during debate of the bill and offered members of the House a sample of free, legal moonshine made in Georgia.

He later said the bottle had water in it.

The vote was 146-20. It now goes to the Senate.
