UPDATE: Middle Valley theft suspect facing additional charges

HAMILTON COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- A man arrested Wednesday for alleged theft now faces more charges.

A saturation sweep by Hamilton County deputies in the Middle Valley area resulted in the arrest of Jimmie Dean Roy who is linked to a series of reported thefts and vehicle burglaries in the area.

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office initiated a saturation of extra manpower that covered an area in Middle Valley involving Coffelt, Moses, and Gates Roads. 

The saturation of manpower began on Sunday, and ran through Tuesday.

According to Public Information Officer Janice Atkinson, early Wednesday just after 2:00 a.m., detectives took Roy into custody after finding him in possession of a stolen bicycle. 

As the investigation continued, detectives obtained a search warrant for Roy's residence on Harper Road in Hixson, where they recovered a large amount of stolen property. 

This recovered property was found to have been stolen from the reported thefts and vehicle burglaries reported in the target area.

Roy has been charged with theft over $500, possession of burglary tools, and possession of marijuana.

Thursday, detectives filed additional charges including eight counts of burglary of an auto, seven counts of theft under $500, one count of theft over $500, one count of theft over $1000, and  one count of theft over $10,000.
