Lady Vols Stricklen, Burdick receive SEC honors

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Southeastern Conference has named Tennessee senior forward Shekinna Stricklen its player of the week and forward Cierra Burdick freshman of the week.

The conference announced the awards Monday.

Stricklen, a native of Morrilton, Ark., averaged 17.3 points and seven rebounds in wins against Kentucky, Mississippi State and Mississippi last week. Stricklen leads the Lady Volunteers with 15.2 points per game this season and ranks second with 6.5 rebounds per game.

Burdick, a Charlotte, N.C., native averaged 7.3 points, six rebounds and 2.7 assists in the three games.

The Lady Vols jumped three spots in the Top 25 to No. 10 on Monday. Tennessee leads the SEC by a half-game and (20-7, 11-3) and hosts Arkansas (20-6, 9-5) on Thursday then Florida (17-10, 7-7) Sunday to close the regular season.
