CHATTANOGA (UTC) -- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior pitcher and designated player Michelle Fuzzard was selected of the Southern Conference Player of the Week announced by the league office on Monday.

Fuzzard went 5-for-6 at the plate with a double, two home runs and five RBI at the Georgia State Panther Invitational.

She compiled a .833 batting average, 2.000 slugging pct. and .819 on-base pct., while drawing four walks, one intentional, during the week.

The Huntington Beach, Calif., native opened the event with a 2-for-2 performance against IUPUI, singling in sophomore second baseman Sara Poteat, and doubling to center to begin the four-run sixth as the Lady Mocs run-ruled the Panthers.

Against host Georgia State, Fuzzard was responsible for driving in the Lady Mocs lone run with a single following sophomore center fielder Kaiti Dutton's first collegiate extra-base hit, a double. She was also intentionally walked during the contest.

To conclude the tournament, she registered the second two home run game of her career with a solo shot in the first and a two-run blast in the fifth that cut the Eastern Illinois lead to 4-3. The Panthers additionally walked Fuzzard in her two other plate appearances.

Earlier in the week on Feb. 15, the reigning SoCon Player of the Year was named one of 30 candidates for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award that is based upon four key areas - character, classroom, community and competition.

This is the sixth time that Fuzzard has been acknowledged with a SoCon weekly award including four times last year. She is now a five-time SoCon Player of the Week and one-time SoCon Pitcher of the Week.

Fuzzard and the Lady Mocs open the Frost Classic Inspired by Memorial on Friday with a doubleheader against Niagara and Valparaiso beginning at 1:15 p.m. Chattanooga also welcomes Ball St., Belmont, Cleveland St., Dayton, East Tennessee St., Purdue, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin and Troy to the Scenic City for the three-day event played at Warner Park.
