Firefighters called second time when fire rekindles

SODDY DAISY, HAMILTON CO., TN (WRCB) - A family is safe after two fires spark in the attic of their home.

The first fire started around 2:00 a.m. Monday at the home on Walden St in Soddy Daisy. When firefighters arrived they discovered one side of the attic on fire.

The residents managed to get out safely along with their pets.

Firefighters worked for a couple of hours to get the blaze out keeping it contained to the attic.

A few hours later they were called back to the scene.

Chief Mike Guffey, Soddy Daisy Fire Department, " Had police come by at 4:30 a.m. then again at 5:30a.m. When they walked through the house no smoke was seen at all. Around 7, we received a call that the attic was back on fire."

When firefighters arrived back on the scene, flames were coming out both sides of the attic. Firefighters managed to put the fire out again. The cause is under investigation.
