CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- McCallie secured a wire-to-wire season as the state's top-ranked team in Division II when it held the top spot Monday in the final Tennessee Associated Press Prep Poll of 2012.

The Blue Tornado (22-2) received 17 of the 18 possible first-place votes to outdistance No. 2 Ensworth by a wide margin. McCallie still has two regular season games left before opening up DII sectional play next week.

Ooltewah was the only other Chattanooga-area boys team to finish in the top ten in the final poll. The Owls (22-3), who won the regular season title in District 5-AAA, cracked the AAA rankings at No. 10 for the second time this year.

GPS, Bradley Central and McMinn Central all finished the season ranked in the girls poll. All three teams spent the entire seasons within the top ten in their respective class.

GPS (22-4) finished No. 2 in Division II behind top-ranked Briarcrest. Bradley Central (27-1) moved up one spot to No. 4 in the final AAA poll, while McMinn Central (18-7) remained No. 9 in Class AA.
