HAMILTON COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- An alert neighbor called 9-1-1 just before 1 p.m. Monday afternoon when they saw smoke coming from a Bill Reed Road home in Ooltewah.

Firefighters from the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded and reported coming from the eaves of the house when they arrived.

Making matters a bit more difficult, the home was nearly 500 feet off the road, requiring firefighters to lay nearly 700 feet of hose from the nearest hydrant.

According to the Tri-Community Fire Marshall Amory Planchard, firefighters found visible fire coming from the master bedroom closet. Interior damage to the manufactured home was extensive due to heat and smoke damage, while the home's exterior received only minor damage.

Planchard confirmed that there were no visible signs of ignitable fluids and said the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Damages are estimated at $85,000.

The homeowners, Steven and Patricia Foster, were not home at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene as a precaution.
