Audi plant decision eyed by summer, VW official says

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA -

(Times Free Press) - A top Volkswagen official told an industry publication the automaker expects to pick a site for an Audi plant in North America by the summer.

Michael Macht, Volkswagen AG's head of manufacturing, told Automotive News Europe that sites in the United States and Mexico are still in the running.

While VW has yet to determine which Audi model it will assemble there, he added the plant decision is closely linked with the company's desire to bring another Volkswagen sport utility vehicle, larger than the Tiguan, to the United States.
