Late surge pushes Bradley Central past rival Cleveland
CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WRCB) -- Hunter Chastain scored half of his team-high 16 points in the final quarter to spark a late Bradley Central surge that led the Bears to a 58-51 win over arch rival Cleveland in a key District 5-AAA showdown on Friday night at the Raider Dome.

With the win, Bradley (17-5, 6-2) swaps spots with the Blue Raiders (12-7, 7-3) atop the district standings with just two games left to play.

Cleveland's D.J. Bowles led all scorers with 21 points, but had just three in the final period as the Bears erased a five-point deficit by outscoring the Blue Raiders 19-7 over the last eight minutes.

Bryce Copeland finished with 15 points and Justin Houston added 14 for Bradley Central. Jarod Rhodes had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Cleveland.

East Ridge alone on top after beating Tyner
EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WRCB) -- With Tyner losing two of its last three games, as well as its leading scorer Trey Suttles (knee injury), the battle for the top spot in District 6-AA lost a little luster before it even tipped off.

But that didn't stop East Ridge from celebrating when it avenged its only league loss with a 60-52 win over the Rams on Friday night to stand alone atop the district standings.

Tyner (15-5, 7-3) falls two games behind East Ridge (17-6, 9-1) and into a second-place tie with Howard.

Alfonzo Cox had a team-high 15 points and seven rebounds, while Eddie Hitchcock added 14 points and six boards for the Pioneers.

Antonique Bonds led three Rams in double figures with 14 points. Sadik Spence finished with 12 and Iman Jones added 10.
