TRENTON, Ga. (WRCB) -- Dade County extended its winning streak to nine games and strengthened its hold on the top spot in Region 7B-AA with an 87-68 win over North Murray on Tuesday night.

The Wolverines (15-5, 10-0 in sub-region play) are undefeated since the calendar turned to 2012, and haven't lost to a team from Georgia since an 82-81 setback against Armuchee on December 2. Their two most recent losses in late December came to Columbia and LaFayette, both of Alabama.

Cole Birchfield hit six 3-pointers and led Dade County with 29 points. Josh Green added 24 and Ben Williams finished with 21.

The Wolverines jumped out to a 25-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and carried that 16-point advantage into the break.

The lead grew to more than 20 before the Mountaineers put together a rally. Tyler Duckett scored 12 of North Murray's 17 third-quarter points to pull the Mountaineers within 13 late in the period, but they could never get over the hump.

Green took over down the stretch for Dade County, going 7-of-8 from the free throw line and scoring 12 points in the final period to seal the win.

Duckett finished with 30 points and Zach Vess added 20 for the Mountaineers (14-6, 8-2), whose only league losses have been to Dade County.
