CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Tyner's defense was in control for the first 24 minutes of their top-ten showdown with Ooltewah on Tuesday night.
Too bad the Owls' offense only needed eight minutes to get the win.
After being helped to just 33 points in the first three quarters, Ooltewah erupted for 35 in the final frame to erase a double-digit deficit and rally for a 68-61 win over the host Rams.
The game was a matchup of two of the Chattanooga area's three state-ranked teams in the latest Tennessee Associated Press Prep Poll. Ooltewah is ranked for the first time in school history at No. 10 in Class AAA, while the Rams are No. 8 in AA.
Tyner (13-3) controlled the paint behind senior post Tre Suttles, closing the third period with an 8-0 run to open a 46-33 lead.
Jacqueze Robinson ended a five-minute scoring drought for the Owls with a 3-pointer from the left wing that sparked a 15-2 run to tie the game. Jervon Johnson, who led all scorers with 26 points, later added a three-point-play off a slick move in transition to push the Owls in front 55-50 with just more than two minutes to play.
The Rams finally came alive, ending a four-minute scoring drought by going back inside to Suttles for the final two of his team-high 18 points. Antonique Bonds capped an 11-5 Tyner surge with a 3-pointer that moved the Rams back in front with 1:08 to play. However, it served as their final points of the game.
The Owls (17-2) scored the final eight points to seal their tenth straight victory.
Andrew Moton added 16 points for the Owls, while Bonds was the only other Ram in double figures with 10 points.
