FORT OGLETHORPE, Ga. (AP) - The neighbor of a 59-year-old man who is accused of fatally shooting his wife and her mother at a Georgia hospital said he's long had a rocky relationship with his family.

Mary Davis told the Chattanooga Times-Free Press ( that James Benson was harsh with his 56-year-old wife, Mary Sue Benson, and "would go off on her in a heartbeat."

Authorities say James Benson killed Mary Sue and her mother, 76-year-old Charlotte Johnson, as they visited a relative being treated at Hutcheson Medical Center in north Georgia. They say Benson, a security guard from nearby Tennessee, turned himself in to police after the shootings.

Benson said nothing during a Saturday hearing where he was charged with two counts of murder. He will face a bond hearing at a later date.
