MANCHESTER, COFFEE COUNTY, TN (WRCB) - A dramatic rescue was caught on tape, after a retired police officer crashed his truck.

It happened Tuesday, two exits north of Manchester on I-24.

The driver of a red truck crossed on-coming traffic, flipped, and landed in a ravine.

He was ejected from the vehicle.

John and Josie Whetstone were headed home to Florida from Christmas break and were first on scene.

"He said he was trying to adjust his heater in his truck, and I guess he looked away for a minute," said John Whetstone, in a phone interview with Channel 3, "he said one thing led to another and he looked off the road, and he ended up running off of it."

The driver was taken to a local hospital. His name and condition have not been released.
