TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - University of Alabama women's golf senior Brooke Pancake was one of five players selected to the 2012 United States Curtis Cup the U.S. Golf Association announced on Wednesday.

"Playing on the Curtis Cup team has been my dream since I started playing college golf," said Pancake, who is a Chattanooga native and former Baylor School standout. "I've been on cloud nine since I got the call, and I can't wait to represent my country. It is the biggest honor of my amateur career, and a perfect way to finish my time at Alabama."

The 2012 Curtis Cup will be played at the Nairn Golf Club in Nairn, Scotland, on June 8-10. Pancake will be joined by North Dakota State's Amy Anderson, Duke's Lindy Duncan, LSU's Austin Ernst and UCLA's Tiffany Lua. The final three players will be added to the team in January.

Pancake, a first-team All-America selection in 2011 and an honorable mention pick in 2010, boasts a 73.1 career scoring average with one victory and five top-five finishes. She posted a 72.29 stroke average a year ago, which is the second-lowest in school history. Pancake was also a semifinalist at the 2011 U.S. Women's Amateur.

Pancake is a three-time NGCA All-American Scholar and a first-team Capital One Academic All-American in 2011 as well as a two-time SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the 2011 Edith Cummings Munson Award winner.

"I am thrilled that these five outstanding young women will be members of the 2012 Curtis Cup Team," said U.S. Team Captain Patricia Cornett. "I had the great pleasure of watching these players over the past year and am confident they will represent the USA in exemplary fashion."

All five players named to the USA Curtis Cup Team finished within the top 20 at the 2011 NCAA Division I Championship. Duncan, Ernst and Pancake were named to the 2011 NGCA All-American first team, while Anderson and Lua received second-team honors.

The Curtis Cup Match consists of six foursomes (alternate-shot) matches, six four-ball matches and eight singles matches over three days of competition. The USA Team has won the last seven Matches and leads the series, 27-6-3.
