Calhoun's Griffith a Sports Illustrated all-American

CALHOUN, Ga. (WRCB) -- Adam Griffith now has his sights set on kicking in college, but the Calhoun senior is still stacking up accolades from a standout prep career.

Griffith was a first-team selection on Sports Illustrated's High School All-American Team on Monday. The Alabama verbal commitment is one of three players from the state of Georgia on the first-team roster, joining Buford linebacker Dillon Lee and Lowndes' safety Josh Harvey-Clemons.

The Poland native kicked four field goals in the Class 2A state championship game at the Georgia Dome two weeks ago, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead the Yellow Jackets to their first state title since 1952. He boasts a career-long of 55 yards and more than 75-percent of his kickoffs were touchbacks this season.

Griffith is rated as one of the top three kickers in the country by most recruiting services. He committed to the Crimson Tide earlier this year.

Maryville offensive lineman Jay Guillermo was the only player from the state of Tennessee on the first-team.

Maryville quarterback Patton Robinette and Memphis East running back Brian Kimbrow were both second-team selections.
