SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, HAMILTON COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- Police are investigating why a woman drove off the side of the W Road.

The crash happened Tuesday around 6:00 p.m. in the 4200 block of the W Road.

When deputies arrived they found a Chevrolet Trail Blazer had hit a retaining wall, traveled over the wall going air borne, and hit several tree. The vehicle came to a rest about 150 feet down a steep embankment.

A motorist traveling behind the Trail Blazer witnessed the crash and notified emergency responders. 

Emergency Crews repelled down the mountain to get to the woman in the vehicle.

The driver, Terissa Evans age 48 of Red Bank, was transported by Life Force to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The W Rd is still closed and expected to be remain closed for awhile.
