Big changes next school year for Cleveland City Schools

Posted: Updated:

CLEVELAND, BRADLEY COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- A big change for Cleveland City Schools, for next school year.

Next year, students will get an extra half hour of personal time in the mornings.

The school board voted to delay start times for two reasons.

Studies show poor performance when students have to wake up early and there's a safety concern about children standing at the bus stop in the dark.

Beginning in August, Cleveland high schoolers will attend school from 8 AM to 3 PM, middle school students from 7:50 AM to 2:50 PM and elementary from 8:40 AM to 3:40 PM.
