CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - A school bus was involved in a crash on Wednesday afternoon on Amnicola Highway in Chattanooga.

Chattanooga Police tell Channel 3 the accident was minor and it happened at 2000 Amnicola Highway involving a county school bus and a Pontiac Grand Am. The accident occurred just after 4:00 p.m. when the Grand Am rear-ended the bus as both vehicles were entering Riverside Dr. from Amnicola Highway, according to police.

The driver of the Grand Am advised police that she did not see the bus due to sun glare.

A total of 6 patients have been transported to a local hospital as a precaution. Included in those taken to the hospital is the bus driver, four children and the driver of the Grand Am. The driver of the Grand Am was cited for following too closely and financial responsibility.

The bus belongs to Durham School Services, which operates the school system's buses, told our partners at the Times Free Press the bus was carrying special needs students.
