IRS Seeks to Return Millions to Tennessee Taxpayers

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- The IRS says it has $2.1 million in undelivered tax refunds for Tennesseans. It's owed to more than 1,700 people.

The checks average $1,182.

The IRS says the checks could not be delivered because of mailing address errors.

The IRS suggests choosing direct deposit when you file. The IRS also recommends that taxpayers file their tax returns electronically, because e-file eliminates the risk of lost paper returns.

If you believe your check was returned to the IRS, use the "Where's my Refund" tool on the government website. You can also call the IRS at 1-800-829-1954.
