(WRCB) - Three men are safe after being reported missing in the Pocket Wilderness of northern Hamilton County.

Cody Stokes, Jason McCroskey and David Levitt went kayaking Sunday afternoon.

Stokes tells Channel 3 News that once the trio realized they had lost their way, they hunkered down under a rock overhang for the night, sleeping under an emergency heating blanket.

Monday morning, they tried to cross the creek, but the stream was too strong.

The men were found around 1:00 p.m. Monday, some five miles downstream from their launch point, by a friend who began searching for them when they didn't check in Sunday night.

Five rescue crews entered the woods near Paradise Falls to search for the men Monday morning, but the search effort was hampered by the heavy rain and rugged terrain.
