Petitions by 'Friends of Hamilton' available Monday

OOLTEWAH, HAMILTON COUNTY (WRCB) -- A group, looking to create its own city in response to Mayor Littlefield's annexation plan, is fighting back.

Petitions by 'Friends of Hamilton' will be available, Monday. Members of the group want to incorporate a new city called 'Hamilton' in an effort to avoid annexation.

'Friends of Hamilton' was formed by those who oppose Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield plan to extend the city limits to Bradley County and Soddy-Daisy.

Residents may sign petitions at the following locations between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday:

- Steve Ray Midnight Oil & Steve Ray Golf carts at 9043 Lee Highway in Ooltewah.

- Fresh Fitness in the Publix Shopping Center at 5958 Snow Hill Road in Ooltewah.

- Gymnastics Centers of Chattanooga located at 6855 Mountain View Road in Ooltewah.

- Savannah Valley Utility District located at 10700 Hwy 58 in Georgetown.

- Volunteer Electric Cooperative located at 8212 Mahan Gap Road in Georgetown.
