911 Center donates 1.5 tons of food to food bank
(WRCB) - Just in time for Thanksgiving, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank received a donation of nearly three thousand pounds of food from the Hamilton County 911 Center.
"I know I speak for the entire Command Staff when I say how proud and humbled I am to work with such generous people," said 911 Director of Operations Jeff Carney. "This is what happens when men and women that are called to the service of helping their fellow man work together to accomplish a goal. Our people should all be very proud of what they've done during this drive and especially of what they do every day."
Food Bank Special Events Coordinator Jen Ferking told telecommunicators Wednesday, "This totally blows my mind!"
The group made and sold homemade meals to raise money to purchase the food.
They also collected food at the call center on Amnicola Highway.
