CHATTANOOGA (UTC) -- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team will wrap up play in the 2011 Preseason Women's NIT Friday night against Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind., at 8:05 p.m.
The Lady Mocs defeated UAB in the opening round by a 65-59 margin before falling to No. 1 Baylor in the second round in Waco, Texas. Each team in the WNIT was guaranteed three games and Friday's game will be a third round consolation matchup between Chattanooga and the Sycamores. ISU fell 99-34 to No. 2 Notre Dame in their contest last Sunday.
Sophomore Taylor Hall and junior Kylie Lambert lead the team with 11.5 points per game. They each posted game highs in both games this season. Hall has a team-best nine rebounds per game after posting a double-double 13 points and 10 rebounds in the season opener against UAB. At Baylor, Hall had 10 points and eight boards.
Chattanooga and Indiana State have faced each other twice with each team getting a win. The last time was Nov. 11, 2005 in Terre Haute, Ind., in the preseason WNIT. The Sycamores posted a 74-53 win over the Lady Mocs to advance to the second round and a meeting with perennial powerhouse UConn on the road.
Chattanooga's win was in the South Florida Invitational, a three-game tournament in December 1983. The Lady Mocs posted a 60-49 win over the Sycamores during an 11-game win streak.
