No jail time for some non violent offenders in McMinn County
MCMINN COUNTY, TN (WRCB) - If you're arrested for a non violent crime in McMinn County, you may get out of wearing stripes and being put behind bars.
The Sheriff's Department is working to reduce overcrowding. That means if you're arrested on a misdemeanor you could go home without having to post bail.
A citation will be given instead for cases like driving without a license and disorderly conduct.
Last week, the jail population was at 252, two over its certified capacity
