Toyota recalling half a million vehicles

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Toyota is recalling more than half a million vehicles around the world, most of them in the United States.

The 2004 and 2005 Camry, Highlander, Sienna, and Solara are being recalled, along with the 2004 Avalon and the 2005 Highlander.

Owners of the '04 and '05 Lexus E-S 330 and R-X 330, and the 2006 R-X-400-H are also affected.

There's a problem with those vehicles' power steering.

Toyota has had 79 reports of the defect since 2007.

In January, owners will get notification of the recall in the mail, asking owners to make an appointment for a free repair.

If owners hear a strange noise coming from the engine compartment before receiving the notice, Toyota says to have the vehicle inspected at any dealership.
