Suspect arrested in NC man's death

MURPHY, CHEROKEE COUNTY -

Police have made an arrest in connection with the death of a North Carolina man.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office says 22-year-old Corey Jonathan Luther, of Marble, was arrested Tuesday.

Deputies say as a result of their investigation charges were brought by investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

Luther is being held without bond and is scheduled for an initial court appearance later this month.

The investigation into the death of John Newton is ongoing. Sheriff Keith Lovin requests that if anyone has information concerning the death of John Newton to please call the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office at 828-837-2589.
