CPA 1, Notre Dame 0 (CPA wins 5-4 on penalty kicks)
In the end, it all came down to Sophie Mullin, but the Notre Dame senior was hardly to blame for the Lady Irish's season-ending defeat.

After 110 scoreless minutes, CPA ousted the defending state champs in penalty kicks for a 1-0 victory in the Class A/AA state semifinals on Thursday night.

The teams were knotted at 4-4 through their first four kicks, Abi Kania missed wide right to open the door for a Notre Dame victory. It quickly closed when Gaby Gurrola pulled her game-winning attempt wide left to force extra kicks.

Megan Roach converted CPA's sixth attempt for a one-shot lead, turning it over to Mullin with a chance to pull Notre Dame back to even. Her line drive shot was fired to the dead-center of the goal, and was snared by Lions' keeper Meredith Roman to end the match.

The Lady Irish, who beat CPA 2-1 in sudden death in last year's quarterfinals, finish the 2011 season at 8-12-2 overall.

CAK 3, Chattanooga Christian 0
A banner season ended in heartbreak Thursday night for Chattanooga Christian on its home field.

Christian Academy of Knoxville took advantage of the wet and windy conditions to slow down the high-powered Lady Charger attack in a 3-0 win in the Class A/AA state semifinals.

Kiah Allen scored twice in the first half, the first coming in the opening ten minutes, forcing CCS to play from behind early. The Lady Chargers struggled to find scoring chances against a stout Warriors' defense before giving up Sarah Dillon's final tally on a rebound off the post with less than 15 minutes to play.

CCS ends the year with a 19-4-2 overall mark. CAK (23-1-1) advances to play CPA for the state championship Saturday morning.

Franklin 7, Soddy-Daisy 1
The Soddy-Daisy girls soccer program will always remember its state quarterfinal match on Wednesday night. But Thursday night's semifinal is a memory the Lady Trojans will surely try to forget.

Top-seeded Franklin scored three first-half goals and cruised to a 7-1 victory over Soddy-Daisy in the Class AAA state semifinals at Baylor School. The loss came 24 hours after the Lady Trojans' first-ever state tournament victory, a 2-0 overtime win over Collierville.

Chesney White scored in the opening minutes and Lyndie Donegan added a pair of goals late in the first half to put Franklin in control. The Rebels never let up, scoring four more times after intermission to seal the win.

The Lady Trojans finish the season at 19-3-2 overall. Franklin (22-0-0) advances to play Farragut in Saturday's Class AAA state final.
