Deputies are investigating the cause of a house fire in Ooltewah.

Tri-Community Volunteer Fire crews were called to a home at 7943 Clara Chase Drive after a neighbor reported a possible house fire.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found smoke coming from the eaves of the home.

Inside, firefighters say they blaze had moved from the first floor into the crawl spaces.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire within minutes, but still had to find the hot spots, which were causing additional smoke through the entire house.

The homeowner, Brenda Burns, was not home at the time. No injuries were reported.

Chief DeWayne Pitts mentioned that if Tri-Community had not been in this subdivision 3 weeks ago conducting hydrant inspection/maintenance, these firefighters would not have found this hydrant due to heavy landscape and vegetation.

Tri-Community VFD Assistant Chief Dennis Thomason reported damages at $200,000.
