School Board to consider Normal Park rezoning

Posted: Updated:

A group of Hill City parents should know Thursday evening whether their children will be allowed to attend a popular North Chattanooga magnet school.

The Hamilton County School Board is scheduled to vote on the issue at their meeting Thursday afternoon.

The Hill City parents want the school board to honor a promise made years ago, which would allow their children to attend Normal Park Museum Magnet.

Last year, the board voted against rezoning Bell and Spears Avenues, despite saying in 2007 that it would.

Parents from Hill City question the neighborhood magnet school's diversity, saying it doesn't represent the community.

But Normal Park parents say there isn't enough space in the school to rezone.

We'll be there and let you know what happens.
