Crime Stoppers: Kangaroo Express Robbery

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Crime Stoppers and the Chattanooga Police Department are seeking help in solving a Robbery that occurred at a local Kangaroo Express on Jenkins Road.

If they'll pistol whip a defenseless stranger, they'll do just about anything.

As our moms told us, hardly anything good happens in the overnight hours.

In this case it's 3:30 a.m. and even the fact that it's a Sunday morning doesn't deter these men.

You may have to identify hoodies rather than faces.

Though the surveillance video is clear, there's hardly a clear head-on shot of the criminals.

"They had hoodies on and both of them had masks over their face, so it's kinda hard to tell," says Chattanooga Police Officer Nathan Hartwig.

It happened in the very early morning hours of Sunday, October 2nd.  The bad guys stormed the place, leading with their handguns.

Looks like the thug in white is calling the shots.

When the clerk could not open the safe, as is clearly posted in every business that has a safe, he got mad, agitated, so much so, that one or both of them used their guns on the clerk.

"They got a little upset and uh, hit him a couple of times.  Broke his nose, lacerations on the back of his head, and took the money out of the register and fled the scene," says Hartwig.

That's going to be bad news for these punks when we catch him.

"This moves the charge up to especially aggravated robbery, which is a Class A felony," says Hartwig.

The brains of the heist looks to meet a locked door in his attempt to get away.

His little helper, scampers down the aisle, then comes back for a parting blow before he bounces.

"Somebody out there knows something and we're just hoping they're gonna call us.  If they're scared, you know, we want people to know they can call Crime Stoppers and remain completely anonymous," says Hartwig.

The first suspect is described as a white male, 5'10" tall, 150-160 pounds, blue jeans, black hoodie, and something black covering his face.

The second suspect is described as a black male, 6'00" tall, 170 pounds, white hoodie, darker denim jeans, and something red covering his face.

That means no one, not even the police will ever know it was you who made the call. It could put some free cash in your pocket.

Pick up the phone and call 698-3333. Let's get these thugs behind bars and get up to a thousand dollars in your hands.

(WRCB) - Good Saturday. While we have seen a few light sprinkles this morning, the bulk of the rain stayed east and south of the area, and I think that will continue to be the case. For the rest of the day we can expect mostly cloudy skies with a high today of 74. We will see our winds increasing behind the front to 10-20 mph from the northeast.Tonight, the winds die down, and we will see some clearing heading through the overnight.More
