Whitfield County Health Department cutting ten jobs
DALTON, WHITFIELD COUNTY, GA (WRCB) -- Budget cuts are causing some suffering at the Whitfield County Health Department.
Ten people will lose their jobs on December 1st. They include four nurses, four clerks and two techs.
The board chairman says they avoided it as long as possible, but state and local funding has been cut.
The health department is also being forced to ask employees to take two furlough days a month for the first half of 2012. That means health services won't be available to residents, two Fridays every month.
The moves are expected to save the department more than $521,000 this fiscal year and more than $583,000 in 2013.
