Trio faces federal charges in fireworks tossing case

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Three men accused of throwing fireworks at people in the East Lake community, now face federal charges.

Kyle Montgomery, Colton Partin and James Smiley were arrested in July.

Witnesses told police the trio drove through East Lake Courts, yelling racial slurs and throwing fireworks at people.

No one was hit, but the window of a home was broken while a woman and her children were inside.

Police say the three admitted to targeting black people.
