Baylor finishes runner-up in Division II-AA volleyball
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WRCB) -- Baylor volleyball finally found its way back to the state championship match Friday, but it couldn't bring home a state title.
The Lady Red Raiders, who lost in the loser's bracket final in each of the last two years, were swept by defending champ Ensworth 3-0 in the Division II-AA state final at Middle Tennessee State University. Baylor finishes runner-up at 30-14 overall.
The Lady Tigers went back and forth with St. Agnes in a five-set marathon in Thursday's winner's bracket final, but wasted no time taking control in the championship match. Ensworth claimed all three games in 25-18, 25-20 and 25-19 to win its second straight state title and finish 33-4 overall.
The Lady Red Raiders were the only Chattanooga area team to advance to Friday's championship round at MTSU. Soddy-Daisy, Red Bank and Sale Creek all fell one game short of advancing to a title match on Thursday night.
