APISON, HAMILTON COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- It was a big job for the little hands of Ootlewah Adventist students, but it didn't stop them from helping a family that deserved a second chance.
Willie and Marvin Quinn lost their home and happiness after the April tornados swept through Apison.
A day they will never forget, and often, find it hard to talk about.
Willie Quinn said, "I said come into the hallway, we need to pray. That tornado is coming for us."
Marvin Quinn said, "Pressure filled the house and then boom! Glass blew out everywhere."
The two knelt in the hallway, Willie covering Marvin, and prayed they would make it through the string of tornadoes that would wreak havoc on the area.
"When it calmed down," Marvin said, "I looked up and saw the sky through the top of the house, it was all gone."
Six months later much of the area bears the scars of the storm, but volunteers have come out in abundance to rebuild the Quinn's home and help restore the lives they once had.
Organizations, private donors, and local colleges donated money and materials for the rebuild.
Willie says through the worst of times, she has witnessed the best of complete strangers.
"We were in the eye of the storm, but in the hollow of god's hands," says Willie.
