Lady Vols unanimous pick to win SEC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Tennessee is the unanimous favorite to win the Southeastern Conference women's title.

The Lady Volunteers received all 22 first-place votes from the SEC and national media in balloting released by the league Monday.

Tennessee senior Shekinna Stricklen is the preseason SEC player of the year.

The Lady Vols are coming off a 34-3 season in which they swept SEC play, won the league tournament and advanced to the NCAA regional finals.

Stricklen received 16 votes for player of the year. Teammate Glory Johnson picked up six votes, LSU's LaSondra Barrett received two votes and Georgia's Jasmine James had one.

Stricklen, Johnson, Barrett and James were joined by Kentucky's A'dia Mathies on the preseason All-SEC first team.
