GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Florida quarterback John Brantley is returning to practice and is expected to play against No. 22 Georgia on Saturday.
Brantley badly sprained his right ankle against Alabama on Oct. 1 and missed the next two games.
The Gators have lost three in a row, and coach Will Muschamp says Brantley's return will be "a huge psychological shock" for a team trying to stay alive in the Southeastern Conference's Eastern Division.
Brantley was wearing a protective boot early last week, but started throwing passes at practice later in the week. Muschamp says he will practice in a limited role Monday.
Brantley has completed 65 percent of his passes for 942 yards this season, with five touchdowns and three interceptions. The fifth-year senior played the best football of his career against Alabama.
