CALHOUN, GORDON COUNTY (WRCB)-- The Calhoun Police Department has issued warrants for attempted murder for a suspect wanted in connection with an officer-involved shooting.

Calhoun Police Chief Garry Moss says 33-year-old David Shane Guyton will be booked on charges of criminal attempt to commit murder and aggravated assault for allegedly firing a shotgun at an officer during a foot chase the weekend of October 17th.

Police say Guyton ran a stop sign and pulled out in front of the officer. When the officer went to question the suspect he sped away, eventually hitting a fence off Harris Beamer Road.

After a brief foot chase, Guyton allegedly fired at the officer with a shotgun. The officer returned fire, hitting the suspect in the neck.

Guyton was flown to Erlanger. He is now being held at the Hamilton County Jail, awaiting extradition to Gordon County.

The officer was not injured during the incident and placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the GBI's investigation.
