UPDATE 3 : Victims identified in fatal Walker St. shooting
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- One person is dead and four others are wounded in an overnight shooting on Walker Street near Orchard Knob Avenue.
Police say they found 22-year-old VanDaryl Rivers with a gunshot wound to his head. He was pronounced dead after arriving at a local hospital.
Nineteen-year-old JerMicahel Smith was shot in the neck. He is listed in critical condition.
Daniel Smiley, 25-years-old, was shot in the wrist. According to police, Smiley was driven to the hospital before the other two were transported.
A teen and a two-year-old boy were grazed when multiple shots were fired shots near the home. Both were treated and released.
A neighbor told Channel 3 Eyewitness News at the scene he heard nearly 30 gunshots around 10:00 p.m. Sunday.
Police say a black man, wearing all black and carrying an assault rifle was seen running from the home after the shooting. He was seen getting into a small, white vehicle.
This is the 23rd homicide of 2011 in Chattanooga.
A motive for the shooting has not been determined.
