DALTON, WHITFIELD COUNTY (WRCB) – Dalton police say the search for a missing toddler has ended.

Police Spokesman Bruce Frazier says 3-year-old Isaiah Ixquiac was found by Dalton Police Officer Brandon Daugherty, lying on the ground with his dog beside him.

The boy had been missing for about two hours, before he was found 200 yards deep in a nearby wooded area around 4:00 Thursday evening.

His mother, Brandy, says she was unloading groceries outside their Beechland Place home when her son disappeared. She says she turned her back for a only moment, and then realized he was gone.

Channel 3 was there as officers reunited Isaiah with his mother, who was relieved by the happy ending.

"Oh my gosh, thank you," she says as Officer Daugherty places her son in her arms. "Thank you so much!"

Despite being cold and a bit shaken up, the boy was found unharmed.

And while it might be just another day on the job for Officer Daugherty, he always remembers the "Golden Rule".

"I just tried to pretend like he was my own son," he says.
