New hotline to report human trafficking in TN

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB)- A local group is joining the fight against human trafficking.

The TBI joined The Women's Fund of Chattanooga Wednesday to introduce a hotline for reporting. The TBI's May report found startling information about human sex trafficking in Tennessee.

In fact, there were up to 50 reports in the last year, in Hamilton County alone. Experts believe girls, usually between the ages of 9 and 17 are brought to our area and sold as prostitutes because we're so close to Atlanta and we have major interstates.

They hope the new hotline will encourage people to report the crime, which often goes unreported.
