Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The record high for today is 85.  We will hit about 83.  Clouds are going to build throughout the afternoon, and by late tonight we should see some scattered showers and non-severe thunderstorms developing and lingering through the overnight.

Lows tonight will drop into the low 50s.  We MIGHT warm up to 55 in the morning, but cooler air will be moving in rapidly, and we should actually see temperatures COOLING throughout the day Wednesday.

Most of the afternoon will be in the upper 40s.  We will also see light, on and off sprinkles, and breezes blowing from the northwest at 10-15 mph making it feel a bit blustery.

Lows Wednesday night into Thursday will drop into the upper 30s/low 40s.

Several things are coming together to increase our chances for some severe weather later today.  A warm, humid air mass will interact with unseasonably cool air that will be pushing through today and tomorrow.

We will continue a warm, muggy pattern with highs reaching about 90 degrees.  The heat and humidity will combine with a trough of low pressure to produce one or two thunderstorms.
