Fans turn out to support Lauren Alaina's new CD

CATOOSA COUNTY, GA (WRCB)- Earlier this year, Lauren Alaina was hardly a household name. Now she's the darling of Rossville, with her own CD on a major label.

Just in the last six months, Lauren Alaina has gone from a student at LFO High School to having her own CD released Tuesday. Fans flocked to the stores to show their hometown support.

Lauren Alaina's debut album, "Wildflower," hit shelves Tuesday four months after being named runner-up on American Idol. Fans came in one after the other at the Fort Oglethorpe Wal-Mart to show they're proud-- like 10-year-old Mckenzie Gossett.

"She's my hero," Mckenzie Gossett said.

"I think it's pretty exciting to have someone from my hometown making it big and everything," Madison Paris said.

The Fort Oglethorpe Wal-Mart is getting a bigger shipment than others in anticipation of the high sales.

Store managers tell Channel 3 they started out with 2,000 copies Tuesday morning. They've been flying off the shelves and in multiples with some people buying up to 20 copies each.

"It shows that anybody you can do whatever you want to do.No matter where you're from," Haley Holloway said.

Fans says she's inspiring local teens at a time when that's exactly what they need.

"Something for this area, the community, it couldn't have come for a better time with the tornadoes and everything that Ringgold experienced and I think she really brought hope for a lot of people," Alex Holloway said.

So far, "Wildflower" is just want fans hoped for. Some said on our Facebook page,"This CD is more than amazing!!!! Love every song!!! Go Lauren!!!!" and, "Yay! You go girl. I love her first song, hope the rest are that good!"

The country/pop star was back home just a few weeks ago for Friday Night Football and told Channel 3 she's always happy to be with the people who keep encouraging her.

"It's really great to be home around familiar faces and this is my family," Lauren Alaina said.

"Wildflower" debuted at number one for a country album on iTunes. It does include her already hit single, "Like My Mother Does." She'll be signing CD's at the Fort Oglethorpe Wal-Mart Saturday at 1 p.m.
