CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – A lawyer for accused cop-killer Jesse Mathews says the trial should be moved out of Hamilton County.

Mathews was in court as attorneys filed motions related to his first degree murder trial for the April shooting death of Sergeant Tim Chapin.

Attorney Lee Davis presented 37 news articles he says "caused the public to form an opinion about the trial.

Davis has also filed a motion to have the jury sequestered, stating that media coverage has been intense and "can cause slant of opinion".

Mathews is due back in court on December 13th.

Antwan Harris is following today's developments in court and will have a full report tonight on WRCB-TV.
